Sonia Synkowski (Co-Director/Choreographer/Dancer) comes to Baltimore via Illinois and New York.  Growing up in the Midwest, Sonia attended Millikin University in Illinois to complete her bachelor’s degree in Vocal Music Education with a double minor in Dance and German.  Sonia then headed to New York to complete her M.F.A. in Choreography/ Performance from SUNY Brockport.  While in Baltimore, Sonia has worked with Helen Hayes, Daniel Burkholder, Tommy Parlon, Vincent Thomas, and Jessica Merchant.  Sonia co-produced Between the Numbers in November 2007 and Singing the Body Electric in January 2009 at the Creative Alliance.  Sonia was the 2007 inaugural recipient of the Mark Ryder Choreography Grant from the Howard County Arts Council.  She currently teaches dance full time at Patapsco High School and Center for the Arts.  This is Sonia’s seventh season with The Collective and fourth season as a Co-Director.
